Basketball skills instruction and fitness training are both offered to groups of participants on Saturday mornings. Beginner-level basketball instruction is held at the Emily K Center in Durham and at Impact Atlhetics in Cary. Activities include various basketball drills such as passing and pivoting, dribbling, shooting and non-competitive games. Fitness training is offered at Empower Fitness, a private health and fitness studio in Durham. Fitness sessions are conducted in a warm and inviting atmosphere and include a “settling in” period, group discussions about thoughts and feelings regarding health and fitness, a fitness or exercise routine and a cool-down and stretching period. Sessions for both group basketball and group fitness range in length from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
